Engaging with Clay

in creative early childhood education

Inspired by Reggio Children’s new publication ‘Clay – techniques, experiences, imaginaries’, we are hosting a day dedicated to evolving competences with the medium of clay as an important component of a pedagogical environment of enquiry and meaning-making.

The day will comprise practical explorations, interlaced with examples of uk earning explorations involving the medium of clay, reflections on constructing encounters with clay (and other expressive media), and implications for co-constructive relational early childhood/primary pedagogy.

It is designed for educators, heads and managers in public, private and voluntary settings who are keen to their evolve creative, reflective practice.

The day will also be the foundation for an optional supported online learning group September – November 2026, in which participants will develop and share their practice.
