Early years' musicality practice conference
Exploring musicality as an expressive language in early childhood education: a conference for educators, musicians and policy-makers
- What can we learn from listening to young children’s musicality?
- How can we create situations for children to explore their own musical expression?
- Why is this important?
We warmly invite musicians working in early childhood education, early childhood educators, managers and policy-makers to a thought-provoking and illuminating day in which we explore the wider lessons for Early Childhood practice in the UK.
This day will feature Sightlines’ two-year Youth Music funded project ‘Sound Sense’, principles and visions for early childhood practice and leading international research into young children’s perceptions and musicality. Youth Music has chosen this project as part of its national Spotlighting programme of enabling and disseminating effective practice.
We will be launching the related DVD publication on the day.
Presenters will include:
- Educators, head teachers and musicians from the participant early years settings in Houghton (Sunderland), Trimdon Grange and Rosemary Lane (Co. Durham)
