Engaging with Clay
in creative early childhood education
We are hosting a day dedicated to clay inspired by Reggio Children’s new publication ‘Clay – techniques, experiences, imaginaries’. The day will comprise:
- Practical explorations of clay within an environment of enquiry and meaning-making;
- Examples of projects involving the medium of clay from Early Years /Primary settings in the UK;
- Exploring possibilities for constructing encounters with clay for children;
- Reflections on working with children's ideas to "co-construct" educational projects and the implications for early childhood/Primary pedagogy.
It is designed for educators, heads and managers in public, private and voluntary settings who are keen to evolve their creative, reflective practice.
The day will also be the foundation for an optional supported online learning group September – November 2026, in which participants will develop and share their practice.
