Debi and Louise have visited Reggio Emilia on numerous Sightlines Initiative study groups over the past 25 years, each time researching a different aspect of their pedagogy and practice. As representatives of Sightlines Initiative they have undertaken professional development with Reggio Children to become recognised teacher-educators on the Reggio Approach (a new initiative of Reggio Children through the Reggio Children International Network). 

This professional learning community is suitable for anyone:

  • who has attended a study group to Reggio Emilia in the past who is wanting to connect and/or deepen their practice in dialogue with the Reggio Emilia Approach ®
  • thinking about attending a study tour in the near future to visit the pre-schools and infant toddler centres of Reggio Emilia
  • curious to know more about the approach which has become an international reference point throughout the world.

in creative early childhood education

We are hosting a day dedicated to clay inspired by Reggio Children’s new publicationClay – techniques, experiences, imaginaries’. The day will comprise:

  • Practical explorations of clay within an environment of enquiry and meaning-making;
  • Examples of projects involving the medium of clay from Early Years /Primary settings in the UK;
  • Exploring possibilities for constructing encounters with clay for children;
  • Reflections on working with children's ideas to "co-construct" educational projects and the implications for early childhood/Primary pedagogy.

It is designed for educators, heads and managers in public, private and voluntary settings who are keen to evolve their creative, reflective practice.

The day will also be the foundation for an optional supported online learning group September – November 2026, in which participants will develop and share their practice.
